It is that time of the year again, when the greatest National Hunt meeting takes place in the UK. It seems like 5 minutes since last year and looks like being another cracker. If any of you are attending, good luck and I hope you enjoy it. I will have to be content with watching on the tv and having a little flutter from home. I have a brother who will be there on Thursday and Friday. Jammy devil. I have made my choices for today and am off out early so as to get back for the off.

*Summerville Boy 1.30 @7/1
Saint Calvados 2.10
*Yala Enki 2.50 @12/1
*Faugheen 3.30 @11/2
*La Bague Au Roi 4.10 @6/1
Rathvinden 4.50

£1.00 Jackpot and Placepot using the six listed.
**** = £1.00 E/W Acca. 4 X 20p E/W Trebles. 6 X 20p E/W Doubles.

Depending on the results of the first two races I can cover the last 4 picks if I feel it is prudent. Good luck if you have a flutter. I will use this thread for the week, to either bemoan my luck or to celebrate, and will post my choices for each day.

Two seconds and a winner, just had a tenner on Faugheen as well
While i congratulate the 2 joint winners of the ITV 7 who take home a very cool £125,000 each, you can't help but feel for the 38 who may have thought they would win with the fav. And, of course, my £5 free bet went down with them:-((

I hope one of you had the 200/1 winner. Sadly I didn't. Last one Jameson small 50p e/w
Question Author
Ignore the previous post. I had been away from tv and pc when I logged back on I thought a 200/1 shot had gone in. A frozen page gave me the card and not the result. Mine came in. :))
cheers togo ive just trawled through all the results looking for the 200/1 shot lol
That's twice one of yours has just got up and done mine, Togo. My turn tomorrow :-/
Did manage a couple of quid on first evening winner @ 10/1 and have it with Nick Vedder and Windforpower later in the card. Not such a bad day, really and eagerly looking forward to tomorrow.
Question Author
Sorry about that Ken. Two winners but couldn't link them in a double. Still no harm done, couple of singles keeps my nose just in front of the bookie today. Tomorrow looks a bit ragged in terms of staying ahead. Couple of hot favourites again to consider and other fields that require the pinstickers guide to the galaxy. Have a look early for non runners and see if I cannot fox providence.
I'll be having a couple of quid each way on William Henry tomorrow as it's my Dad's name. I had £2 each way on Barney Dwan today. I got 9/1 this morning; its the dog's name. ha ha

That is as good a way of picking as any Horseshoes........With your moniker you should be in the know.

"If you knock two halves of a horse together, it does not make a sound like a coconut". :))
Ken Dodd.
Like cheltenham racing .A wee bit of advice which I have followed through the years .All eyes are on the big meeting but I always found its in the across the cards races there is value to be found .Had a nice wee bet At Southwell today two 11/1 winners .Isnt life grand ?
Question Author
It is indeed Weecalf. Well done. For me .....I love the spectacle , and a little flutter makes me feel part of the jamboree. Plus I have enough trouble looking at Cheltenham cards this week. Remember an owner once telling me to look for horses from the Irish stables running elsewhere in GB when the festival is on. They can transport them over at minimal cost with the big players, to pinch prize money with little outlay.
Today’s bets....
1.30 Next Destination
2.10 Monalee
2.50 The Organist e/w
3.30 Politologue
4.10 Beeves e/w Urumqi e/w
4.50 Grand Sancy e/w
5.30 Carefully Selected

Good luck all

Morning Panky. Second day comes around after yesterdays "what might have been". Bit of a curate's egg outcome ......good in parts.
Still no harm done so I will try again.

*Black Op @9/1 1.30
Monalee @7/2 2.10
*As You Were @22/1 2.50
Min @7/2 3.30
*Urgent De Gregaine @12/1 4.10
*Eragon De Chanay @12/1 4.50

Placepot and Jackpot.
**** = 50p E/W Acca. 6 X 20pE/W Doubles. 4 X 20p E/W Trebles
£1.00 Double on the 2.10 & 3.30 selections.

Good luck to any who have a punt.
morning just one bet today £10 ew "know the score" @20/1 bumper race 5.30 good luck all
Question Author
Hot bumper that Volts. You did well to get the price....showing 16s now on some sites. May have little look later, at that race, if a cover or get out alive punt is deemed necessary.
I like to have a play about on day 2 so - a bit more gut feel for today rather than thinking I have a clue.

Vision Des Flos
Al Boum Photo
Fixe Le Kap
Politologue

Then for the next two races some outsiders I fancy to crash and burn on

Vicomte Du Seuil
The King Of May

Good luck all
Like many a shrewd judge (not that i count myself as one!) i believe the first race could develop into a 2 horse race with the two top Irish stables fighting it out. Not gonna get rich with a fiver on the fav, but i have had a fiver on Next Destination @ 4/1 with PP who, should the fav oblige, will refund all losing stakes (£10 max) as a free bet.
Still studying the stats for my other bets.
Had a nice little double last night with my evening bet, so some extra funds to play with today (as i indicated in my first post yesterday).

The 4.50 has seen 2 x 33/1, 2 x 25/1 and a 40/1 winner in the last 6 years so i've done 2 in that race;

Win single; Esprit De Somoza @ 14/1
Each way; Embole @ 25/1

2.10; Monalee @ 7/2 (Rev f/c with Al Boum Photo)
2.50; William Henry @ 8/1 (Rev f/c with Topofthegame)
4.10; Cause Of Causes @ 7/2 (Rev f/c with Josie's Orders)
5.30; Acey Milan @ 7/1 (Rev f/c with Didtheyleaveuoutoo)

Win singles, 20p lucky 15, 50p e.w. acca. 4 placed = approx £20, 4 winners = approx £1,288

3.30; Altior to beat Douvan straight f/c

Placepot; 12-9-2-1-5-6

Best of luck to all - think we'll need it today.
Horseshoes; i went to Haydock on a pub outing some years back and had my head buried in the Racing Post all the way there, deciding on which horse i would be on in each race. Having backed 3 losers, i watched my 'banker' get run out of the fourth race to lose by a short head to a 33/1 outsider that had 6 eggs at the side of it's name. The woman in front of me (the landlady of the pub) was dancing with glee. "How did you pick that one?" i asked. Her hubby, an expert like me (!!!!!) turned to me and, shaking his head explained that it was the name of her son's favourite soft toy. I tore my RP into a million pieces and went to the bar:-/
