It is that time of the year again, when the greatest National Hunt meeting takes place in the UK. It seems like 5 minutes since last year and looks like being another cracker. If any of you are attending, good luck and I hope you enjoy it. I will have to be content with watching on the tv and having a little flutter from home. I have a brother who will be there on Thursday and Friday. Jammy devil. I have made my choices for today and am off out early so as to get back for the off.

*Summerville Boy 1.30 @7/1
Saint Calvados 2.10
*Yala Enki 2.50 @12/1
*Faugheen 3.30 @11/2
*La Bague Au Roi 4.10 @6/1
Rathvinden 4.50

£1.00 Jackpot and Placepot using the six listed.
**** = £1.00 E/W Acca. 4 X 20p E/W Trebles. 6 X 20p E/W Doubles.

Depending on the results of the first two races I can cover the last 4 picks if I feel it is prudent. Good luck if you have a flutter. I will use this thread for the week, to either bemoan my luck or to celebrate, and will post my choices for each day.

No messing there Talbot....would pay about £1.5k for a tenner. Brave bet.

Beggar me....4 X 2nds. No cigar but not terminal. Will be having a look at Know The Score in the last, so it may be worth you forecast punters putting it up to come second. :((
Yeah, just trying my luck.
Gone for a combo forecast in the last.
Mullins horses must be on the same stuff as Sir Brad :-)
Drew a blank at the festival and with a Robin at the other meetings, but i have started with Bernies Boy in the first at Wolves which is the first leg of a trixie/treble with King Kevin and Spring Romance - fingers crossed.

I am done for the day but note that although two of the days winning jockeys were named Walsh....none of them were Ruby Walsh. I just wonder whether he is due a big day tomorrow. He always seems to get one.
£5 each way on William Henry. 4th at 9/1.

My Dad is called William Henry!

Noticed that Horseshoes after your post yesterday. Well done. Please feel free to post the names of all your family overnight so that we all have a chance to glean a little lucre. :))
A third and two seconds for me today, I always find Wednesday the hardest day of the week to find winners at the festival.
I doubt Ruby Walsh will have anymore winners Togo as he's injured his leg again and is out for a few weeks.

Thursday bets for me
1.30 Kemboy
2.10 Sort It Out, Taj Badalandabad e/w
2.50 Frodon
3.30 Yanworth
4.10 Kings Odyssey e/w Shanahan's Turn e/w
4.50 Salsaretta
5.30 Mall Dini, Sugar Baron e/w

Good luck all

Yes Panky, such a shame. I actually saw the fields last night with "jockey unknown" against Mullin's horses and didn't put two and two together. Have had a quick scan this morning and am just holding on to see who is declared to take his rides. Townsend and Fehily have options to perhaps pick up a ride if they choose to switch from their original mounts.
gosh this horse racing malarkey sounds very complimicated ! good luck though xx

Great fun though Minty. Pitting your wits and chancing your luck at one and the same time. I thank my Granddad for my love of the game.
Question Author
Hmm Douvan looks like being scratched from the Ryanair and Simon Holt to take the ride on Un De Sceaux.
Question Author
The dye is cast and bets are on. I will be off out early and back hopefully for the off. Good luck.

*Modus @12/1 1.30
*Glencoe @6/1 2.10
Un De Sceaux 2.50
*Penhill @11/1 3.30
*Kings Socks @8/1 4.10
Laurina 4.50

Placepot & Jackpot on the 6 selections
****£1.00 E/W Acca. 4 X 20p E/W Trebles. 6 X 20p E/W Doubles.
Morning Togo, and good luck with your selections. Have had to select mine much earlier than i would have liked, today, as i have an annual retina scan at 12 (diabetes) and won't be able to see clearly for a few hours after. So i'll have to listen to my horses winning (hahahahahahahaha - don't, you'll have me wetting myself!).
Another 2 winners and a 2nd from last night's bet - can be mighty frustrating this gambling malarkey. Onward and upward!!

Have taken advantage of Paddy Power's offer of a free bet in the first as, once again, i believe it may be a 2-horse affair between Cheltenham's top two stables and, in the absence of Ruby on the Mullins' horse, i have had my fiver on Terrefort @ 4/1.

2.10; Louis Vac Pouch @ 10/1 (Rev f/c with Forza Milan)
3.30; Yanworth @ 11/2 (Rev f/c with L'ami Serge)
4.10; King's Socks @ 8/1 (Each way Pougne Bobbi @ 25/1 - 5 places)
5.30; Sugar Baron @ 9/1 (Each way Actinpieces @ 33/1)

20p lucky 15, 50p e.w. acca. 4 placed = approx £40, 4 winners = approx £5,238

Used free bet from yesterday on a five-fold with short priced favs; Cornerstone Lad, U D Sceaux, Call Carlo, Laurina and Behind The Lines = possible £100 return.

Also done 2 S F/cs; Un De Sceaux x Sub Lt and Laurina x Countister

Jackpot/Placepot; 9-7-7-13-16-2

Best of luck to all

I popped a little f/cast double on Ken. Un De Sceaux/Balko Des Flos & Laurina/Maria's Benefit.
Just gonna watch today ;0(
Question Author
That was lucky. I qualified for a free £1.00 bet and put it on Balko Des Flos and took 14/1. After that I put £2 on Penhill in the 3.30, after being beaten by a nose with Glencoe, I thought that Mullins would fire back. Nice. I have a runner with Kings Socks in the 4.10 from my previous punt so have pushed my luck with £1.00 E/W on Oldgrangewood which I was looking at long and hard before choosing.
Question Author
Serves me right for pushing my luck!
Well in with the 2 winners, Togo. Another blank for me today i'm afraid. Though i did have a nice little bet on BTTS & Madrid to win away in Moscow, so today wasn't a complete waste of time. Also eagerly waiting for the final whistle in the 3 remaining EL matches; i placed a little 7/1 in-play treble at half time, Arsenal to win, CSKA to win & Salzburg to keep a clean sheet. And, just in case anyone thinks i'm BSing, all footy bets posted on OLBG website (joined after the demise of Racecaller site)
Never before has the sound of 3 whistles been such music to my ears :-) :-) £££
