Disagree. City had some great moments and it would have been a different 2 nd half with 11 men. Silva and Kompany were as good as any Barca players.

It most certainly was a penalty he took Messi down inside the box. Barca definitely the better team but City also played well

Yes it was, his jersey was pulled, while there's a lot of "divers" in football Messi isn't one of them. He just wants to get on with the game, he is one of the most fouled players in the Barca squad!

I think the replays showed the first contact to be outside the box. So should have been a free kick. Still a red card, though.

I was only trying to be amusing Chewn. It reminded me of a game where a player complained, "That was never a penalty, ref", receiving the reply, "Read tomorrow's papers and you'll find out that it was". :-)

Definite penalty. You've got to blame the player for making such a rash challenge. Man City really miss Aguero.

Thought i'd already explained that, davetuc. The first 'foul' contact was outside the box, contact continued into the box and Messi went down. Obviously without the benefit of instant replays, very difficult for officials to get it spot on - if you'll pardon the pun:-)

Plus if that stunt had been pulled in Spain he would have need red carded on the spot.
