Heather came so close there, which is a tad surprising given that she messed up quite a lot of her first serves. No doubt she will work on that particular aspect of her game and go from strength to strength. Who knows, in 2, 3 or 4 years time? However well she played, though, you have to admire the sheer determination of Serena Williams who proved just why she is the best female player ever. As i said in an earlier thread, ive backed Petra Kvitova to win - and to meet Williams in the final - but i doubt if last year's champ would have beaten Serena today.

Williams had a real wobble in the final of the French losing six or seven games on the bounce but came through to defeat Safarova. Watson did us proud today, well done

Served for the match at one point, but despite losing that game it didn't look like Heather was throwing it away or anything. Just Serena coming up with some incredibly good hustling at those key moments in the final set. Wow. Never had expected it to be that close. Well done Heather!
