In a doubles game, can a left-handed player serve whilst part of his body is forward of the base line ( even though he makes contact with the ball behind the line)[or an extension of the line]

Hi Emmie-- having read the definition of a legal serve, it just states that the ball has to be struck behind the base line----but doesn't seem to mention about the players body, which was my initial query

P.S. this would not be applicable to a right handed player---as you could visualise, he would neeed to be a contorsionist to do so!!

If it isn't barred by the description then surely it must be allowed ? Isn't that the default situation ?
