What a thriller of a match!
Was on the road. Came in to be gobsmacked at the result.
Cracking second half! Brilliant win for Wales. I'm very happy right now.
I'm an enormous rugby fan, having played (at a pretty poor level it has to be said) for many years. I go to Twickenham a lot, and my 10 year old son is looking like he has a bit of talent as a number 15, and the club he plays for has an affiliation with Sarries, so we've now become season ticket holders there - basically we're very much a rugby family.

But.

I hate the Welsh when it comes to rugby with an all encompassing passion that borders on hysteria. I hate them. There's an added frisson because my Brother-in-Law, who is also an enormous rugby fan, is Welsh - and he's insufferable when the Welsh beat England. In fact, I tend to find the Welsh incredibly bad winners.

To say I'm mightily p155ed off at the moment is an enormous understatement.

England threw the game away - we comprehensively outplayed the Welsh in the first half.....but for some bizarre reason decided not to bother playing in the second half.
England usually start well in the Six Nations and gradually fade.
Looks like it’s happening again, except luckily for them this time they only have Italy to come and Scotland who’ve not won at Twickenham since Bannockburn :-)
We need Ireland to stuff the Welsh. If they do England should still win the 6 Nations given how many tries we've scored, because we'll definitely beat the jocks and the Italians at Twickenham - both games could be 60 points.
Deskdiary ......I have problems with the Welsh as well.
At Uni, we had many Welsh students admitted because of their rugby, all at County level and one who played for Wales. I found them arrogant and rude and had a couple of fights with them in the Student's Hostel.
The game today...the Welsh deserved to win....we had nothing other than a very poor kicking game and why, as England have, backs with speed and power to die for, never got a sequence to talk about...MADNESS.
I always feared for Eliot Daly under the high ball and Farrell played the worst game that I have ever seen him play.
Seemed to me that England went into cruise mode when they got their nose in front - they just assumed they were going to win.

I wish someone would take the batteries out of that demented Welsh rabbiter that was commentating, incomprehensible and painful on the ear, a good player doesn't necessarily make a good pundit.
DD with that attitude you are not a rugby fan, stick to soccer, it's more appropriate to your basic instincts.
Now, to the game, England failed to deliver the intensity we had against Ireland, at this level that will be punished, it was, well done Wales you out played us.
Oh dear. As a half Welsh mongrel it's nice to know where I stand on this site. :-). I wore the England white shirt today because it is England which I owe my loyalty to. It was a good game and I am not so bloody infantile to get het up over my first choice team losing to a better side on the day.
I will wear my Welsh shirt when they play any other team apart from England. I love the game and there is no room in it as players or spectators who spit their bloody dummys out .
Welsh team played better in the second half, particularly when Biggar came on, but it's hard not to feel deflated. England seemed to lose control and their cool after a fantastic and gripping first period.

Better team won for sure but still feeling disappointed.
That's an odd thing to say TTT.

Rugby is, and always has been, an enormous part of my life - and it isn't going to wane anytime soon given my son is heavily into rugby.

As a rule I hate it when England lose (if you don't and you're an England supporter, then that's the time to call somebody out) but that said, when the French decide to turn up and play their traditional running quick ball game, it's a joy to watch and I can accept it when we lose.

But I just can't stand Welsh rugby. I can't help it - but to suggest it doesn't make me a rugby fan is (and I'll be polite) just simply wrong.
Sqad - I agree. I thought Farrell had a mare of a game.

I'm venting because I'm so disappointed. I tried to vent at Mrs Deskdiary, but her response was "it's only a game" so I gave up and decided to vent on AB.
DD: I hate it when England lose, I have been known to burn my Shirt but I never spit the bile of hatred against the opposition like you have that's very socceresque. I have played most of my life in various teams with or against players from New Zealand to Venezuela and I respect all of them and their teams. I want us to win but I don't "hate", like you do, any of them.
TTT
I concur. Well said.
TTT - sounds like you've played at a much higher level than I have, but to confuse my passion for England rugby and my robust dislike for Welsh rugby as being "socceresque" is about as wrong as it's possible to be.

In fact this fierce yearning for England to always beat Wales is one of the reasons why I love the game so much. You're confusing my dislike of Wales with having no respect for them. That couldn't be further from the truth.
ok well that's how it comes across.
As I say - I'm venting (probably doesn't help that I'm venting having having imbibed!!!).
no one could touch us if we played with the intensity we did against Ireland, we just didn't do that today. Wales played like us against ireland for the second half. We failed to change our game when it wasn't working. I've always hated box kicking and Wales demonstrated why today. The 9 should pass it whenever possible, run it when he sees a chance, box kicking just gives away possession. Leave the tactical stuff up to the 10/12 combination.
