What is this strange obsession with wanting to watch football on the telly in a pub? Surely it's more comfortable at home (with the added advantage that you don't annoy anybody else).

Crazy isn’t it. Next they’ll be building stadiums for people to go watch it!

It's a shared experience.

Amy fan will tell you that watching with two or more others, right up to a stadium full, is more enjoyable than watching at home.

Fancy wanting to go out and socialise instead of staying at home watching TV. Wotever next ? People socialising on the internet from home, never going out at all ?

Good to see your back canary
But no one will see you cheering at home and doing your bit for girl power or whatever they call it these days.
I don't see what the fuss is all about ..... win or lose, the women's football will mostly be forgotten about in a couple of weeks ! lol
Used to be called being a tomboy. :-)
No such thing as tomboys now, they must be trans.
Well, the beer used to be better at the pub. Although if they bother having ale on tap these days the choice is limited. You have to search to find one with a decent body rather than some light nonsense.
I'm glad more girls and women are playing football - it's much tamer than hockey, lacrosse and camogie.
Catch more of the atmosphere down at the pub.

Thanks for all your answers.

Needless to say I am vehemently opposed to football being shown in pubs. It ruins the atmosphere for those who have no interest in the game and effectively makes them off limits for people who don't want to be surrounded by raving lunatics. I don't understand the "shared experience" aspect. I've never needed to share any experiences when watching sport though I appreciate that others might want to. I just wish they'd share them somewhere more appropriate.
There are some pubs without a roger judge! Not many I grant you! There is one I go to regularly a couple of miles from me.
Perhaps try visiting a pub that doesn't have a TV? There are many thousands available.

Just a thought.
