I remember watching the replayed finals of the 1977 and 1978 league cup finals but was wondering when the first final was televised live. I've got a sneaky feeling it was the 1979 final between Nottingham Forest and Southampton, any ideas ????

Zac - you must be getting mixed up - Blackpool never played Bolton in the League cup in 1960

My memory may be playing tricks on me but I think I remember watching the Forest Southampton match live on tv. I would only have been 8 though so maybe it wasn't actually live and I just thought it was.

The BBC never screened live League Cup finals in the 60's, 70's or 80's - so the games were probably on ITV - but were they shown live on regional ITV stations ?
i.e. Swindon v Arsenal on HTV West and LWT - Were finals played on Saturdays ? and restricted to highlights on The Big Match ! What was the first final played on a Sunday ? One for Steve I think !
