did Ferrari cheat today

they have been fined $100000 for the slight rule bending - so Alonso could collect max points, after Massa had led 50 laps before letting his teammate Alonso pass at the hairpin,
bring the sport into disrepute.

do you think they should have been disqualified or dropped down the order.
or this was a fair decision by the governing body. so far???

hi gsr, i think it was a fair punishment, if not slightly harsh, as F1 is a team sport, i think Ferrari done what they thought was best for the team..but it is one of those grey areas of the rules

They should have forfeited the constructors points and be put on a warning that if they do it again both drivers will be disqualified.
It's not a grey area, after the Schumacher days it was made against the rules, full stop

Not grey area, it is plainly against the rules since the last time they did it! They should have lost points too.

The rule was changed in 2008 that a team should not give instructions to the drivers to let one pass the other, so its cheating.

Apart from the fine, I think they should have their 1st and 2nd points deducted, so it will deter it happening again.

because of the team orders I am done out of £140
can I claim from the FIA or Ferrari (I dought)
I think that where it is obvious that team orders are given that their points should be deducted, no fine imposed as these are nothing to these mega-rich teams but taking away all of their points for the race will cripple them and they will think hard and fast before ever doing it again.

yes they cheated for the sake of one of them who was higher in the table getting valuable points, its like the baltic countries voting for each other in the euriovision!

As far as I'm concerned, Ferrari cheated the fans out of seeing a fair race today. I'm not a fan of either driver, but Massa deserved to win after making a great start and keeping Alonso at bay. Alonso is arrogant to believe that he should be the one in front and threw his toys out of the pram as usual; no wonder he looked embarrassed at the press conference afterwards. Alonso clearly wasn't good enough to take the win for himself.

The drivers claimed that they were "working for the good of the team". However, they were first and second, so the team would have still got the same points if they hadn't swapped places - the only beneficiary of their actions was Alonso. I think everybody heard how sheepish Massa's race engineer sounded on the team radio at having to give him the coded message to let Alonso through.

I hope the FIA gives them the b******ing they deserve, but I doubt it will happen with an ex-Ferrari man in charge of the FIA.

we seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet
cheating is cheating and it should be dealt with where it hurts most
no fines, as these can be deducted for tax purposes just take away their points and they will NEVER do it again end of story.
What hurts them most, hundreds of thousands of pounds in fines or a loss of 25 and 18 points for their 2 drivers and constructors.
They can`t buy enough points so hit them where it hurts.
