Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive
My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.
Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)
(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

I use up-to-date Avast on W8.1 and don't have this problem. If you right-click the Avast icon in the task tray you'll find the 'Avast Shield Controls' where you can disable it for a period - see if the drive is recognised when Avast is disabled. I suspect it won't make a difference.

Hello all
Another dull cloudy day.I've been cut and blow dried though.
I had a surprise visit from a mini monster yesterday afternoon .A little great ,great niece.My niece's grandaughter. She's nearly a year old ,not quite walking yet but she can sure motor along.I just managed to whisk the coal scuttle out of the way in time as she made a bee line for it.
She's a giggler,really sweet .
That's a lovely present to get Robinia .I bet you're pleased.Internet shopping will be so much speedier now :)

Cloudy chilly day again but they promised sunshine and tad warmer for tomorrow and then thunderstorms and rain for the rest of the week How cheerful.
Went out this afternoon with my brother to visit my sil's old friend who we always used to go and see.The bionic woman who's had nearly all her joints replaced and one hip replaced twice! It was really nice to see her and we had a good old chinwag.
I've got a lot of pictures( slides) of Portofino Jno.Not mine, as I've never been there but my in laws went there in the early 60's for their first proper holiday in a hotel.
I haven't seen Picky Neti.He might pop in this weekend so I'll get him to do it for me then .I expect it'll be fine ,if not I'll let you know.

My cousins have all decided to get back in touch via email again. We said we'd do it regularly years ago but it dwindled. Now we're all getting on a bit we've realised how time can suddenly run out. There are fifteen of us so it's going to get busy on the interweb.

Lovely day today,brilliant sunshine,blue skies but it wasn't that hot ,not here anyway.It was warm in the back garden but out the front with the wind off the sea it was chilly.As I trudged from front to back with me snippers I had to keep whipping my cardi on and off.

I might have mentioned that the Ozzies were hoping to all come for a holiday later this year. However from next March Qantas will be doing direct flights from Perth to London so they're going to wait until then.

Good morning. Chillier today. I lightened my hair to white ( nordic gets ridnof ywllow?!) I was alike a bright yellow fluffy cloud, it qaa dire. Mr N laughed. So luckily I found an old extinct garnier beige so bunged that on and now I like it. Trouble is there's no way I can repeat it for the roots as garnier beige has been stopped and they do not sell toners here.
I didn't have to get up to the cat at all last night. She shouted once so I shouted back and she was quiet all night. Still waiting to get to vwt but no car available and its mornings only.
My sister flew to Perth Oz yesterday for a month.
Sorry about the headache woofy. I'm on anti BIOS for mabky tooth which will be pulled on Tuesday.

Lol Woofy. Wearing a shower cap becomes an issue when you put it on to wash your hair. I've done that several times.

Not a gnats spit of rain here and it's warm and sunny .I've been out touring round the county with my brother and it looks very dry in parts .We went to the farm butchers and then I treated him for a lunch in the garden centre.
My hair never stays in place to wear a shower cap.I look as if I've had a fright in the mornings so I wash it most days anyway or shove hair grips in it.I wish I had hair that you can just brush and go.Perhaps I should start wearing a shower cap in bed ..haha.
