Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive
My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.
Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)
(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

I use up-to-date Avast on W8.1 and don't have this problem. If you right-click the Avast icon in the task tray you'll find the 'Avast Shield Controls' where you can disable it for a period - see if the drive is recognised when Avast is disabled. I suspect it won't make a difference.

naturally, while away I kept a close eye on Italian styles... I'm too modest to say how many of these I bought

That NHS hacking is dreadful. It was reported on the local news that our hospital has been affected.
I've grown my hair Woofy .I have the same inverted bob style now that I had in my teens :)

Morning all
I'm an early bird today.I was dog tired last night and didn't need any rocking so had a good sleep.Bit dull out there atm but supposed to brighten up.No rain as yet.
My Mum's birthday today .She was born 113 years ago and my father in law was born 103 years ago tomorrow.
I muse about these things ,as you do.I wonder what they would think of the world today. I know that FiL would love the techy stuff and Mum would be fascinated by internet shopping :)
That's enough rambling thoughts for a Saturday. Hope you're all ok .

My Mum used to love internet shopping. She never wanted a computer but when she visited me, she would come with a list of web addresses to shop for stuff. She was gobsmacked when we found her Mum’s first husbands War Grave location and I printed her a copy of the certificate from the War Graves website....and face time......she’d have loved facetiming her grandchildren and great grandchildren. My dad died in 74, even before mobile phones.
Today I am at the point of no return otherwise known as “I wish I had never started this, whose stupid idea was it” I have to take an ikea bed apart hoping I can get it back together again....still at least the migraines have taken a hike......wish me luck

We have had a liquid lunch, I only drink lemon shandy. It has got very hot so Mr N is preparing the pool for filling. He cleared all the side terrace from weeds yesterday, it looks ace.
I have spiky hair and love it. I love this new white colour but dread when the roots grow, so will have to fork out for a professional touch up!

I thought it was good Neti .I think what put a lot of people off was the blank verse style of speaking .It was a nod to Shakespeare really with Kate as a scheming Lady Macbeth, the obligatory ghost (Diana), Charles as King Lear with his thankless children etc. Somebody said that the writer and actors should be locked up in the tower for treason but seeing as how Prince William awarded the late Tim Piggot Smith an OBE this year I can't see that they're too bothered about being portrayed in this way.It was a sort of peep into the future and what could happen when the Queen dies although I doubt it will happen like that.
How sad. I've been chatting to a woman in USA in the "giraffe" group and on Wed her granddaughter aged 13 didn't come home. She was found dead in a forest in Arizona on.Thursday. I have no idea what to say so leave it to others. I just can't believe how this can happen. Hija often disappeared but she was older and usually contacted me. Can you imagine the horror? So sad.
