Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive

My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.

Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)

(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

None of the six more storms promised by Accu actually happened so I went back to the beach with a PG Wodehouse that some guest had donated. I do have some downloaded books to read as that is supposed to be the future of reading but I tried King Solomons Mines and had to give up because of all the racism and elephant slaughter. I do try to get myself into the Victorian mindset but it's too unpleasant. Maybe I'm becomng a snowflake?

Jno I have never been able to do Rider Haggard....don't mind John Buchan or PG Wodehouse...I love my Kindle...got 600 odd books on it.

Also, I have decided never again will I try goji berry & quinoa yoghurt, it's like licking curdled milk off the road.

Morning all
Nice morning so far,sunny in parts .It was a lovely sunny day yesterday.
Had a mooch in Morrisons,where we had a big breakfast and then to the new Lidl which is much bigger than the one here.

Hello all. Its nice here after all the rain yesterday. Im still spotty, new ones everyday and definitely not fleas or bedbugs. No idea my cashcard wont let me withdraw more than €200 a day, so another couple of days and Ill have more thn enough for hija's dubai flight, a decent one thus time!

yes woofy you'd be surprised at the amount of parents who dont control their kids when workmen are around.
Another nice day here, only 24° with a slight breeze, Ive actually cleaned out one of my freezers! And by tomorrow I will have enough money for hija's direct flight to Dubai, she would rather fly cheap and keep the rest but I am not having that!!

Nice sunny day here too after rain most of the night .
Accu say we are getting a tropical rainstorm on Monday.

Good morning folk. Same old same old here. Very mice clement weather with a breeze. Still getting bitten and i squashed a very small black fly and noodles of blood came out. Didnt hqve glasses on so couldnt see what it looked like. House has been sprayed and sprayed. Its amazing how many people have botes on them, it pleases me as I can be assured its not fleas or bedbugs which of course I know it isnt!! But I am getting paranoid!!
How are you getting on jno? Just eat normal food!

Good morning all... not mice here, it's wet, dreary and headachey. I've just about caught up with myself for now so I'm having a lazy day. Hoping to have the living room emulsioned sometime soon so I've been moving the small stuff. Funny, I didn't think I'd got that much clutter. :(

I've never forgotten a plumber who came when Ozzy was small. I went to make him a cuppa before the water was turned off and when I came back he was sitting on the floor reading a story to Ozzy. I thought it was lovely. He lived not far away and sadly died very young.

I've never eaten goji berries or keenwah, I'm not adventurous with my diet. I've eaten so many strawberries this year it's a wonder I'm not pink. My latest fads are peanut butter and hot chocolate....not at the same time.

Hope you're all ok. Get your swearboxes emptied, only two more weeks to spend your old pound coins.
