I'm using open office.org on my computer but when i save onto a pen drive, i can't open it through word on a different computer but i can open word documents through open office. I'm running through Windows ME but don't know how to recover word. How do I do this? What do I need to buy?

When working in OpenOffice with documents that will be accessed elsewhere by Microsoft Word, you must save the document as Word format.

To save a document in Microsoft Word format, click on the "File" menu.
Select the "Save As..." item from the menu.
The "Save As" dialog appears.
Click on the arrow of the drop-down list for the "Save as type: " field.
To define the type of the file, select "Microsoft Word ... (.doc)" item from the list.
Click on the "Save" button to finish the dialog.
By default OpenOffice.org warns you if a target file type can not save all formatting information.
Click the "Yes" button to confirm your decison.
In OpenOffice on one of the options menus you can set the default file format. set it to word

tools menu>options>load/save>general>Always save as>Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP this changes your default save format to word
