Blu ray on Sony Laptop

Or more to the point, it won't play. I load my Blu Ray disc (free copy of Spider Man 3 with laptop) which opens up Intervideo WinDVD application for playing BD, but all I get is a blank screen. It says it is playing, but the counter doesn't move, I get no sound also. Anyone had a similar problem? It does say that playback is as easy as making microwave popcorn!!! However I'm still waiting to hear from Sony, but that can atke a while. I only hope it's the disc.
