My laptop screen has suddenly gone darker than normal, it isn't so dark that I cannot use it, but it is more difficult to see. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5315 and is a wireless connection.
I use Opera and Firefox but it is the same on both.
Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Check about the little switch near by the LCD screen corner, it is a hibernate switch. It is possible that it has stuck. Please check it.
Look for some keys with little pictures of suns on them (often the arrows, but not always) and then hold down the Fn key and use the keys with the suns on to adjust the brightness.
your laptop's resolution settings is disturbed.

so set the resolution settings back by increasing the brightness, decrease the contrast .
you can do all this things from the right click on the desktop> select the graphics properties.

select the colour settings and set the colour .

johnpaul is blatantly advertising - and the site he is advertising is expensive rubbish.
Just hold the FN key and press the right arrow key on the bottom right of the keyboard, as already said.
If adjusting the brightness (as above) doesn't help, it could be that the backlight has gone. If the machine isn't under warranty it's usually not too difficult to replace (dependent on your skills/confidence), but if you don't think you're up to dismantling the screen and possibly a bit of soldering you may need to take it to a repair shop.
You'd think that johnpol78 would have got the message by now:

If the replies you post are utter gibberish (and they are) then all your advertising is just telling people where NOT to gho for help.

Thanks everybody who replied.
Pressing the Fn key and the arrow keys did the trick.
Brilliant, thank you
Help........where is this 'Fn' key. Is it possible to have a keyboard that doesn't have one? I can't find it.
they are only on laptop keyboards Stewey, if you have a desktop you won't have one, if it's a laptop look to the right and left of the space bar.
Ok; thanks, CF. Is there a similar way on a desktop to increase screen brightness?
