with USB it's the wrong way round - drivers first - so generally it just says can't find device
if you installed any drivers ... uninstall /reboot / reinstall / plug in
with the "real" cameras ... I prefer a card reader the same type of util looking for different brands can cause chaos ... a card reader should work with any camera - just needs a different method for dealing with them
another "problem" is if you have a usb HDD connected . for some reason it can (sometimes) stop new devices being detected.... could also apply to printer or scanner ... bit I've never seen it) - so unplug everything else
Finally
some cameras (and other devices) have the option to either use the supplied software or yo tick a box whick configs the device to talk as if it's a HDD (see menu of gizmo)
food for thought ?
but there is another couple
if none of them work .... does ANYTHING work in USB?
in device manager - look in VIEW and select view hidden devices
remove all USB entries
reboot ... and start again ...
