Upgrade of "Virgin" Netgear DG834G
Hi all,
As a backup, I just bought a second-hand DG834G on eBay. Snag is, it's a Virgin badged unit and will not let me upgrade it to the latest Netgear firmware level
Does anyone have a trick to help me out?
Thanks
Phil G

Actually VM is overly fond of the phrase "...equipment remains the property of..." and do retain title to any and all equipment supplied to their subscribers. Just because oftentimes VM do not collect their equipment upon cancellation or lapse of contract does not automatically confer title to the ex-subscriber. Even if VM supplied the router at a cost it would have been a "service charge"; the T&Cs of the service would state that the router remained the property of VM.
This is why, unlike Sky who wash their hands in regard of maintenance of subscribers' equipment, Virgin will replace faulty hardware.
