norton reporting a trojan

and it was at a time when i was not actively doing anything, but i had fnished downloading a file from megaupload (if you know it) and this and a couple of other pages were open but nothing was processing. i went out, and when i came back norton reported that a trojan had attempted to get in whilst i was away from my computer. is this a surprise? and does it mean that if i go away from my computer i should log out of the internet as a safe measure?
