Is this a driver problem..?

I have done a fresh install of windows XP home tonight...( On a spare laptop Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V3515 WL1 )...But i dont seem to be able to connect to the internet... I've gone into device manager and this is what it shows..

When I run the utilities disk windows can't find what it wants.
When I go to Fujitsu downloads I'm not quite sure which drivers I should be getting.
Any help appreciated.

you could try going to the manufacturers website and looking up your motherboard drivers, there is normally an all in one install program which you run which will load your ethernet drivers ect.

you have not loaded your graphics card drivers yet either

Right click on -> My Computers

Click on -> Properties

Click on -> Hardware Tab

Click on -> Device Manager

Do you see any -> Yellow Question Marks?

You've not stated how you're trying to connect to the internet. If it's by using a router connected to your laptop via an ethernet cable then the 'Ethernet Controller' reference does look worrying. (It's also possible, depending upon your means of connection, that the 'Modem Device' might be relevant).

If you're trying to make a wireless connection it would help to know where your problem arises. Is it because your laptop can't 'see' the router at all, or simply because it can't connect to it? You might need to go into your router's settings, using a computer which will connect to it, to check how its currently configured. (My own router is set not to even advertise the existence of a wireless network, yet alone accept any new connections).

Initialy I was trying to connect wireless ...I've just tried plugging an ethernet cable directly to the router (BeBox) and I can connect to the internet...but I cant connect when wireless.
But as I have the yellow question marks, I suppose I'd better find the drivers before I do anything.

A 'BeBox' is actually a Thomson router with a different label on it. Using any computer which will connect to it (including, if you want, the laptop connected with an ethernet cable) open your web browser and enter the address as 192.168.1.254
That should access the router's settings, so you can see whether it's set to hide the existence of a network. If it is, reverse the setting and then see if the laptop can 'see' the network.

There's not much point in doing anything else until you've installed the drivers. As your image shows, your network adaptor is not working.
On another computer, go to:

Work your way through the dropdowns. to select your machine.Select your OS then select the LAN driver
Download and install it.
Restart the machine.
You should now be able to connect to the net.
Once your Amilo is connected, you should be able to use their automatic updater to install the other drivers.

Have dowloaded the LAN driver and extracted files .. restarted and tried to connect and get ..'this page cannot be displayed'.. and when I go to device manager all four yellow question marks are still there..!
What am I missing.?

At the risk of attracting flak from the more knowledgable here, when I see stuff that's unrecognised one of the things I try is to delete them, restart the PC, let it sort out what it finds and needs to reload.

Thanks but I dont fancy deleting anything yet as I'm not quite sure what I'm doing.
It's a fresh install of XP... but it just seems to be missing the drivers.
How do I run setup..?

there should be an autorun in the directory you have saved them to, if you have downloaded an archive (zipped or rar file) you need to double click on it first to extract the autorun/files

When I open the LAN file... theres plenty files in it, but I dont see autorun.

it's called winsetup in that package, just double click on that.

old-geezer, deleting the items from device manager only works if the drivers are already on the system, if they are not there then it will install them as an unknown device again.

When I click on winsetup ... I get another 6 files showing.
NT setup .. ntsim2A .. VETUP32.DL .. ntsim2..VETUP16.DL and VETUP64.DLL
What happens from here..?

Click on the file called winsetup, not the folder.
