Stronger Router.

Scenario: sqad in study with desktop and router .....great internet connections (no land line).

Mrs sqad in kitchen with laptop and router..........poor connection to internet. New router bought for Mrs sqad TP-Link (booster)......no improvement.

Any ideas to get Mrs sqad's laptop connected to the internet ( I don't want her in my room).

Does she get a good connection in the study?

If so swap the routers over.

Has her wifi connection been OK before, or is it only on the new laptop?

boxy....no, never been satisfactory on either laptops.

A dongle seems to be your solution, then.... we are fortunate with our wifi, it used to be poor in the basement (where I tend to do work-work), but is much better since we were able to upgrade to a faster connection.

Why can't she connect to your router? My laptop can connect all over the house and most of the garden.

Do you (in layman's terms) have to introduce your router to mrs sqad's laptop, perhaps in your study, to see if it works there, or if your kitchen's not the ideal place for her to use it?

i've found that setting the channel number to a particular channel gives an excellent connection

boxy...Mrs sqad's laptop connects perfectly when placed next to my router in MY study, but i don't want her in my study and she doesn't want to be close to me, as she wants her laptop in the kitchen which is upstairs.
It is an upside down villa, kitchen and lounge upstairs and my study with bedrooms downstairs...............for the view you understand ;-)

I see, all makes sense, sqad! That's odd then - could you park her in a bedroom next to your study pro tem, to pick up your signal?
