Where should I buy a domain name from? Are all comapnies the same? I've used 123.reg in the past is this one just as good as any other. I only want a .co.uk How long can I own a domain name for?

The price they charge varies from company to company, but a co.uk domain should cost �3 or less. I think you get it for 2 years.

Each co.uk domain you register is just forwarded to Nominet, the organization that manage the co.uk domains, so there should not be much differance whoever you create it with.

I recently created two co.uk domains for free when I signed up for hosting at a company. This was with 1and1, but I am sure there are others that may offer free co.uk domains if you host with them.

I too use 123reg and have found them excellent. You can keep the domain for as long as you are willing to pay. They will send you a reminder when any domains are about to expire.

I have used 123-reg for the last 4 years after trying other providers and would recommend to stick with them. Great value and quality with service to back it up.

I've used 123 with no issues.

Their hosting is awful though, so just use them for registering domains.

As others have said 123-reg are probably as good as any ISP, they are not good on support issues, but otherwise good value for money.

You can always move the domain to another provider if you are not happy with their service.

You own the domain for as long as you keep paying the remewal fess. Make sure you pay 123-reg and not Nominet, as they charge something like �95. Usualy co.uk domains are renewed every two years.
