AVG Free Edition occasionally goes through major upgrades (which can't be accommodated by the usual daily downloads). When this happens, Grisoft tries to steer users towards their full commercial products. However, the basic edition of AVG always remains free; you just need to take care to click on the correct links to find the relevant download.
