What Happens To Facebook After You Die?

Dear All,

This question was sprung into my mind from this: http://www.theanswerb...s/Question994133.html

What happens to a Facebook account when you become an ex-facebooker? Can you transfer your farmville livestock out to your family & friends? Could you make notice in your will that Auntie Dorine should not be in receipt of any farmville land because of what she once said about our Shirley at Dianne & Tom's wedding?

And, more seriously, what about for those people who want to keep the account open as a monument to that person? It is certainly better than roadside flowers - but still creepy.

Any spurious information or cold-hard speculation is welcome.

///When he died I had this irrational fear that people would forget him///

I've experienced something similar. I spent a lot of time "Cataloguing" experiences and memories. I also started taking pictures of everything and everyone.

It is nice for the pub to have these rituals. Sad question, but do you think they'll ever take the picture down or rename the golf comp? Or will it just stay there forever?

a policy of deleting dead users ??? no i dont think they do ed
That is so unfair Ed.If you knew me at all you wouldnt even suggest I was being patronising on a subject which affects so many people on a daily basis. That comment has reduced me to tears and I dont mind the flak i'll get for admitting that.
They will stay there as long as the landlady is still there....hopefully for ever and ever. They also have an event every summer in memory of 'Speedy'...which is a big Irish get together..

Dris, I put in an earlier thread

"Grief is a very personal thing though and I accept we are all not alike"

I am what I am and was expressing my opinions.
Bottom right...my Dad and my Uncle (Mums brother)

Sorry Dris, but you were patronising about a sensitive subject - as someone who I believe knows enough about grief I'd have thought you'd not have been.

ed Dris is obviously upset and i think deserves an apology, this is why people need to be very careful what they put on here people, take things to heart when harsh comments are made and it is very uncalled for !!

Brilliant Ummm.

Hopefully this stuff will stay for a few generations - eventually people will just say "who is that bloke in the picture" and reply with "dunno, he's just always been there."

I quite like the idea.
Question Author
I agree Zzxxee, people need to be careful what they put on here about a sensitive subject. That's why I called Dris on it. I will not be patronized about my way of grieving as she will not be.
Actually zzxxee, I found Dris's comment very insensitive and quite hurtful because none of us were decrying others with our views, just expressing our views. This is why I posted a I did above ^.
Actually...so do I like that thought...

A lost of us have experienced real grief. Some of us haven't made it known. We are all different.

I am leaving this thread it has turned sour.

Not a flounce though!!
