cost of cleaning laptop fan

hi
can anyone give me an approximate price id expect to pay, to get someone who deals in computer repairs etc, to open up my laptop and clean the fan for me, please?
its been making a loud whirring for a few months now, and id like to get it sorted.

Looks like there is a large panel that can be removed on the bottom that will give you pretty good access to the fan and heat sink (top right)

on looking at the underside of my laptop, yes, it does look the same as the one in the link,
so, you think it would be easy enough for me to have a go myself, then yes?...?
and do you suggest i buy one of those cans of air to clean the fan with?

I had to put my old PC in to get fixed - when they opened it up they found it to contain 'some' cat hairs - I know this is of no help to you but the guy was amazed that either of my cats had any hair left. Of course them sleeping on the unit didn't help.

Hope you get it fixed - I think it is bed time.

Hi looo...

Yeah from looking at the pic I posted yours is gonna be pretty easy to clean. remove the battery first, then remove all the screws that hold that big panel on and lift it out and you should have clear access to the fan. a can of compressed air and a natural bristle brush (soft paint brush or make up brush is ideal) should get all the rubbish out fairly easily. as I said before make sure the fan doesn't spin up when you blast it with the air otherwise you can damage things.

The fan will suck air in from the bottom and blow it out through the heatsink on the side of the laptop (the heatsink is a metal thing with fins see pic... http://www.insidemyla...d-laptop-heatsink.jpg )... the one in that pic is very clogged up! as the air is blowing from the bottom and out the side you want to blow the air back the other way to clear the fluff otherwise you'll just blow it deeper into the heatsink...

Give it a crack, it's not going to be a hard job by the looks :)

OH, and if you do get a can of compressed air, make sure you keep it upright when using it, otherwise it will squirt out liquid air at an incredibly low temperature and freeze anything it's sprayed on (including fingers!)
