Opening attachments

How do you open an attachment on outlook express as the system has blocked the attachment (which i know is safe)

In Outlook Express, select Options from the Tools menu.  Go to the Security tab, and uncheck the box next to "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".  Click OK to close the Options window.  You may need to close and reopen Outlook Express before you can open the attachment.

If you want to re-enable the feature after opening this attachment, just re-check the box.  All that option does is prevent access to attachments that have an extension it considers potentially unsafe.  OE doesn't perform any actual virus-checking on either the attachments it allows or those it blocks, making it a fairly useless form of protection and a nuisance if you regularly receive attachments.  Much better to ensure that you have up-to-date virus protection and that all your incoming mail is scanned before it hits your inbox.
