I have a usb memory stick that comes up unrecognised when connected to computers. Is there anything that can be done to fix it?

Not sure about ^^ but I would look at the USB devices in the Device Manager. If not there, the stick may be kaput. If listed with a Q it may need an updated driver.

Then again, I have one that doesn't show up at all and at other times works perfectly. Go figure.

Try it in a different usb ports on the same machine.
I have had usb peripherals that will only work correctly when using the usb that are directly connected to the m/board and not the ones at the front of the PC.

It is not working in the laptop, pc or media player so it must be a problem with the device. Perhaps it is just banjaxed.
