Laptop Playing Up
8 Answers
I was on my laptop this morning when for a nanosecond a large box appeared on the screen. It was there so briefly I couldn't read what it said apart from the words "It is dead Jim." The laptop then switched itself off. I restarted it and did a virus scan which was negative. The laptop is now running so slowly and jerkily it is driving me mad.

After receiving automatic windows updates on Thursday on my laptop which is Vista system, it would not switch on and load correctly which prevented it switching on at all. I just got the circle whizzing round. It had to be switched off using button as cursor would not work so couldn't turn off normally. Switching back on again, I had to use 'safe mode' and go back to restore point. Tried again and same thing happened so in the end have had to remove updates temporally. Has anyone else suffered similar problems. I assume one of the updates isn't loading properly. If this is the reason, I suppose there will eventually be another update correcting the problem.
It could of course be my laptop and nothing to do with the updates but it seems a bit of a coincidence.
