Automated Phone Calls

This is taking it one step too far do you not think? It was annoying enough with actual people calling you up now they are alway automated.
How many other people get these and how often? I have had 2 already today. What are your thoughts on these calls?

the phone rang yesterday with message for my oh to remind him of a dentist appintment then 5 minutes later rang again to remind me of a dentist appointment same day as oh ,they really annoy me .

the goverment are putting a stop to cold calling from next year
heavy fines will be imposed
i saw in a newspaper some time ago

i really dont understand why they do this - i cannot imagine many people actually even listen to the call, let alone take them up on whatever its about.

same with pop ups on computers - most people just close them - and most people wouldn't dream of following the links and paying for anything.

any company that has to try to force itself to appear on my screen in order to try to get business is not one i would ever want to deal with - and same with the phone calls

Thank you for your views. They are precious and this seems to be an infringement of our good nature. It is concluded this is similar to harassment and should not be accepted within our society.

I stopped (!) recorded message calls by logging them by time, date and number (if they leave me on 1471) and emailing the ICO. They couldn't guarantee to stop them but they sure did. I won't shout too loudly but since I got in touch with them I've not rec'd any further recorded calls...phew!
