Not sure where to post this - 2 people sent me the same animation, which is great, and I'd like to forward it, but !! for some reason, I can only access it via my hotmail and I can't get it to forward - ie nothing comes out when you try to forward it, I have tried copy and pasting, I have tried looking on google but nothing.  The animation is very small, it's a cartoon man at a keyboard who gets mad and starts bashing it with his hands, then his head, then his eyes fall out and his head falls off,, it's funny... really.!.. but I can't be going to hotmail every time I want to see it and this work computer won't let me save it on my desktop or anywhere else.  Does any of this makes sense?? How can I forward it? Thanks!

when you open the e-mail, does the animation just appear on the e-mail screen, or do you have to open the attachment?

If it just opens in the e-mail screen, right-click on it, then you should be able to do various thing such as save as a desktop item, or copy it, then paste onto the desktop.

If the animation opens as an attachment, when opening it, click 'save as' then choose where. (i always choose desktop as its easy to fins to start with).

Once it is on your desktop, you can view it from there, or use it in another email to send it to someone else.

Your IT department at work may have stopped you saving stuff from the internet, it's quite common to lock down PCs in this way. Do you have the same problem on your home PC?

Hi Pat - thanks for the reply, I have tried all those things but nothing happens.  I can right click on the animation and go to "copy" but then nothing follows so I can't get any further.  I also tried clicking on the name of the attachment (image001.gif(0.26mb) but it doesn't save it, it says there's a problem downloading it.  And for some reason it won't save to desktop either.  I guess I will just keep in in hotmail til I get sick of it, but it is very funny.  Thank you for your reply, PatTheRat and I'm sure you are not a rat.

I've got the same email & I've managed to forward it (not via hotmail though), it just plays when you open the mail, if you right click you can only save picture, you can't save target.

Hi Ursula62, my home computer is getting sorted out, so I won't know til Monday if I can do that - will let you know. Thanks.  Thing is, it's such a mad animation that I have to have a little laugh when I see it!. And you have to have laughs!
Can you right click it and choose Copy? You seem to indicate that you can. If you can, you can then paste into a html email which should work, even between the Hotmail open in your browser and your Outlook (?) program on your work computer.

If you double-click it and it opens in Paint or something like that, but without the animation, don't worry, that's what usually happens. An animated gif is just a picture with a number of different pictures within it that the right software will step through one at a time. Most of the programs on a normal PC that this type of file would generally be associated with, will not play back the animation, they'd just show the first frame. A web browser will play them and a Outlook html email usually will as well.
