After up dates my mouse will no longer work. It is a cordless usb one. It keeps saying driver is installed but when it searches it says driver cannot be found. I checked in device manager and there is a yellow triangle along side the mouse and also the CD / DVD drive. I have tried another mouse but same thing happens can anyone help me here please?

I assume the wireless mouse has a usb dongle. Try removing it, restarting the computer and then plugging it back in again, ensure the mouse is switched on when you do this.

Just a thought...

I think this page has been auto translated but it may help, I'll keep digging, I think it needs resetting.
It seems that your mouse uses a standard Windows driver. It should one of these but it's guesswork as to which one to try!
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-gb/downloads

The best chance of finding the right one might be from the computer manufacturer's website so, again, make and model please!
I think it's the one in my link Buenchico...
Another thought:
A 'repair installation' of Windows (which puts all default drivers back into place but leaves your data untouched) should also fix the problem. It might be the easiest way forward (as it should also sort out the missing CD/DVD driver at the same time).

So my next question is 'which version of Windows is it'?

HOWEVER!!!! . . .
(last minute thought here)
an even easier solution would be to run System Restore. It will leave your data untouched but take your computer's registry back to a time when it recognised the drivers. You'll lose the updates but they might install properly (without creating any more driver problems) next time around.
I know it's not your model, have read of this

Don't Run System Restore!!!
After all the updates that you have just done it could make thing even worse.
>>>I think it's the one in my link Buenchico...

Fair enough, WD (and well done for finding it) but that still leaves the CD/DVD driver missing. I'd still opt for using System Restore (and then a repair installation of Windows if that doesn't work). There's obviously a registry problem which might (for all we know) relate to far more entries than just those for the mouse and optical drive.
As I said at 21:34 (and SlackAlice has just intimated) look for a button to reset the mouse.
>>>After all the updates that you have just done it could make thing even worse

Ehh? The whole point of System Restore is that it retains an old version of the registry which will be free of anything done by the updates. That's why it's there!
OK, we're crossing posts here, I'll make a cuppa before I post again :-)
One thing that could make life easier is the make and model of the pc and which Windows O/S

Yes WyeDyed that is the mouse. buenchico it is Acer 5736z laptop don't really want system restore as had problems installing last updates. Nothing is simple is it. Have tried different usb also another mouse Techair 3D optical . Slowly getting stressed at this why do things go wrong.
Windows 7 (with SP1 after much wailing and gnashing of teeth)
Which is why I'm advising against a system restore just yet.
To find Acer's drivers for your laptop, go here:
http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers
and enter 5736z into the 'Product Model' field.

However it looks as if the drivers you require are probably part of Windows 7, rather than within that list. I'd still go for System Restore but, unless you can find the necessary drivers somewhere, this would appear to be your only alternative:
