E Mail Problem
29 Answers
i am trying to send e mails to those not in my contact list on the desktop
and it will only bring up those listed in contacts, for i.e if i want to
send an e mail to john smith not in contact list it won't do it.
it just lists those under j - so i try and compose an e mail to john smith and can't do it. Anyone know how to resolve this please.

Are you using an email client (such as Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird) or accessing your mail through your web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome)? If it's the latter, which website are you going to? Is it that of TalkTalk or that of Gmail?

talktalk is main provider, when log in top of e mail screen says AOL in big letters underneath by email is AIM, but log in with my [email protected]
then password.
is that what you mean.

it won't let me do it, as i said. i try and type in an e mail to my g mail account and a message pops up and says that not recognised. and try and compose e mail and it only brings up this in category names A, B, C and so on contact list, which it didn't before.
you should be able to compose e mails to anyone without adding in to contact list.

i have tried with the new separate g mail one and didn't recognise the e mail account but it will mean any emails i will have to save all contacts even those i am only going to contact once. i bought a new mobile and the shop manager has had trouble getting my desktop e mails to recognise the phone so i can view both. told its not the phone,
Well, I'm a bit lost but it seems to me that, if you want to use your Gmail account, it would make sense to log into Gmail, rather than into TalkTalk's system:
https:/ /accoun ts.goog le.com/ Service Login?s ervice= mail&am p;conti nue=htt ps://ma il.goog le.com/ mail/
https:/
Well, I don't use either TalkTalk or Gmail but, while it's fairly common these days for one email service to have a 'mail collector' so that you can receive email sent to a different address, I've not come across one which lets you actually send mail out via another address.
Are you sure that it's actually possible to send mail from your Gmail account when you're only logged into your TalkTalk one? I'd be very surprised if you can.

i have done it, sent e mail from my TT e mail address to my Gmail address. i do it to test if it works, it did and does. however i still can't see my desktop folders on the phone. I have just forwarded one old TT e mail to my Gmail address and its now on the phone, good, however is there a way to forward each folder to the phone from the desktop. because i would like to be able to look at what is on the desktop folders if i am out.
I'm confused.....
You get internet from talktalk
You have a talktalk email address
You also have a gmail email address
You check your talktalk mail by going to talktalk website
You check your gmail mail by going to gmail website
You mention AOL - were you ever with AOL?
You mention contacts on the desktop - do you mean the desktop of your computer or do you mean a desktop computer as opposed to a laptop?

currently e mail with talktalk. its going to change at some point.
i have two e mail addresses now, one with TT and the other new one Gmail
i am mostly going to be using the gmail for the mobile phone. but i still want to keep my TT folders, it has loads of kept emails which i need, which currently are lodged on the laptop,
i want to be able to view my laptop folders on the new mobile
which the guy in the shop got to work, however it doesn't now.
so a visit with them next week is likely, but i thought someone might know how to solved the problem.
