I'm doing a "Full system scan" and at 2:38 hours in and it's still at 0%

My malware bytes "Threat scan" is nearly finished which started at the same time and Mse is at roughly 10%

Why is avast still at 0? It still seems to be going through the files???

Also what is a full boot scan and do I need to run it and if so how long would that take? A week?

Avast and MSE are both anti virus and you should not install two anti virus on your computer at the same time.

Uninstall one of them.

Also you should not really run all these scans at the same time as they will all try to compete with each other.

Only run one scan at a time.

I always thought that a three pronged attack would be more desirable than a one pronged attack.

Which one is better? Mse has never caught anything. Malwarebytes has caught a few pups and avast appears to catch so much virus's/dodgy websites and threats that I'm starting to wonder whether it makes them up to appear that it's doing something in order for you to buy the full download
Avast's main job is to stay on all the time and block threats as they appear. I've never bothered with their deep scans, I do that with Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes is only one when you switch it on so it doesn't conflict with Avast or MSE.

As VHG says, you don't need two anti-virus programmes.
incidentally, Microsoft really intended MSE as a basic first line of defence (or so I've read), and other free ones are generally reckoned to be better. I've got Avast and have had no problems with it.

Which problems would I run into by keeping both Mse and avast? I've already noticed my computer is running slower when I switch it on and when I first power up.

Is this because both of them are analyzing things at the same time?

Just to add my avast stayed at 0% until just now when it went from 0-100% in about 30 seconds so it appears it doesn't show you the % but as long as it says it's scanning it's okay.

The full scan took roughly 5-6 hours and nothing was found although some files couldn't be scanned which I've read is normal as some programs don't allow it.
