Mice?

After unsuccessfully trying to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad on my laptop (with Chris's kind assistance) I've decided to invest in a mouse.

Are they all much the same, or has anyone got any recommendations please?

While I've given up on using ultra-cheap keyboards (because they're usually clunk and unresponsive), I've always been happy to use a cheapo mouse, just like the one I'm using right now. (£4 from Asda).

I've never seen the need for a wireless mouse.

I suppose that with a desktop PC you might require a set-up where your mouse is at some distance from your base unit but that's not going to apply with a laptop (where the monitor is part of the computer itself anyway). I simply can't see why you'd need a wireless mouse; it just means that there's more to go wrong!

^^^The 'reliability of a cord' bit simply means that it's claiming to be every bit as good as a corded mouse.

The reference to a USB port is because a wireless mouse doesn't use the wireless network provided by your router; it uses its own wireless system. (i.e. it would work even if you hadn't got a router).

The mouse has a transmitter inside it for one end of the communication and you plug the associated receiver into a USB port on your computer.

PS:
While I'm happy to stick with my Asda (corded) mouse, I'm using a Logitech keyboard ('cos the cheapo Polaroid ones in Asda are rubbish). I've always found Logitech to be a reliable (and inexpensive) brand, so I'm happy to give my backing to the suggestions above for their wireless mouse.
