My Dell desktop (at least 10 years old) is starting to make grinding noises and taking for ever to start up. I have to think it is a goner, and my Toshiba laptop is also fading.
I would like to get an Apple (have an iPad and iPhone) but have no idea what to buy.
I need the simplest version. I am not creative (ie have no plans to make my own films etc), just want a good basic model.
Any thoughts??
Ps is there such a thing as an Apple that has a DVD slot?

You can see them all here. http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-mac/imac Looks like the £899 model is the cheapest and most "basic".

The Macbook Air with 11 or 13 inch screen should suit you, but the new Macbook with the 12 inch screen and Retina Display gives a better viewing. None of the Apple laptops of desktop have DVD facility, though.

Which is a laptop.
You need an externa usb dvd burner - at work we have samsung one that cost around £30
I would always suggest you to go with apple. Durable, robust and best in the performance.

Thanks to all. Will get an Apple from John Lewis in the next couple of days.
You don't need to spend nearly £900 on a laptop or desktop. You can get a much better performing machine for a lot less than that. Chillblast or PC Specialist are the way to go.
