My Sound Has Stopped On My Laptop

I am on Win8 & firefox, any help please.

Probably need to check the device manager and see is any have a cross or exclamation mark by them.

I take it you have tried the obvious, made sure the speakers are plugged in and working; made sure all the volumes are at a reasonable level and none muted. Have you turned the PC off and on again ?

Turned the PC off and on again, and its back but missing the volume thingy at the bottom right hand side on the tool-bar.

That missing icon happened to me for a bit recently, but it returned when I did a restart earlier today. For a few days I had the volume control window open permanently.

To get your 'Volume' icon back:

Right-click the bar at the foot of your screen

Click on 'Properties'

Under 'Notification Area', click on 'Customize

Look for 'Volume' and check that it's got 'Show Icons and Notifications' alongside it

Click on 'Turn system icons on and off'

Check that 'Volume' is set to 'On'

Then wonder why it's greyed out and why folk still direct you there ;-)
