Seemingly the phrase is used with or without the 'a', so it would sound like Tace is Latin fork handle! Nice one, Shoota.

I DID study Latin ( and was quite good at it) but I still couldn't work out the anagram. Tough one that! Good crossword though. I have got my percentage success rate up to about 80% so I feel I am making good progress ( with help from you people!!)

Half term! ( or Reading week as they call it here but with no list of things to read!) I was even allowed a lie in as it's the Bank Holiday. Bliss.
I would never have got the "tace is Latin..." clue even though I too studied Latin. I thought the clue " impress hosts by becoming wayward" was a brilliant clue. Did others?
One part of an answer I don't get. " requirement for computer access is good and clear". The answer is obviously " user ID". The definition is straighforward and I can see that clear might be rid. But how do " good" in the clue and " use" in the answer fit please?
Miserable weather means no gardening or the likes. So it's not all bad.
Btw thank you Mamyalynne for what you said about continuing to call her SWMBO. Not sure, but I am grateful to you for your thoughts. As ever!

Yes it's "stay in to read" weather. More of it today. But I AM doing the work so it's OK. Just having a tea break.
But I hope the weather improves for the weekend. Summer has started hasn't it?
I am still really puzzled by this saying " tace is Latin for a candle" I have tried saying tace to sound like tacky which one of my Latin teachers would do. And as if the c sounded like ch as the priest in my church would say it but it still doesn't make any sense. Really odd!
