Major Windows 10 Update On Its Way

A major update to Windows 10 has been released this week.

It is called the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

I believe this is a complete replacement of Windows.

I started to install it on a fairly powerful PC, and I have 150mbps Virgin cable Broadband, and so far it has been running for well over an hour and is still at the stage of "Preparing to install updates" (at 90%)

So if you do have Windows 10 then watch out for this update and be prepared to do very little on your PC for a while (I know it says you can carry on working while it is installing but I prefer to leave the PC alone till it has finished)

If you have a few hours when you are not going to use your PC then maybe go in to the "Check for Updates" option in Settings and try to "kick off" the update.

I have Windows 7 on my laptop and turned off the automatic updates about 2 years ago and have had no problems whatsoever. My husband's laptop is on Windows 10 and this week's update consumed over HALF our monthly broadband allowance in 2 days. Daylight robbery!

You can set the upgrade programme for capped broadband Diddlydo and it will do gradual upgrades. Must admit we are on unlimited and have just gone fibre. Great product I am pulling 56 mbps at the worst now and all downloads fly.

Well, it only took about 100 mins and it all seems to be OK now.

diddly...."monthly broadband allowance". You really should move to an uncapped service....these days, capped "allowance" really isn't good enough.

No thank you. Bought myself a Mac desktop. By far superior to Windows.
