How To Get Into My Outlook
20 Answers
The blue box has gone but when I try to get into my Outlook - they are asking me to sign in
Years ago I gave my home phone number - there is no way I get a message there as it is the old phone
I tell them that is no good - they respond by giving me a "code" - won't allow me to send the code or my wee mobile phone or my email address.
How can I fix this. Thanks

By sign in they will need your username which will be your actual email address that you are trying to open and then a password. If you can't remember that (and it's very unlikely to be a phone number) there should be a way to then to contact them if you can't get in but it will be a fuss.
Are you sure your computer isn't saving your passwords for you so it will be stored somewhere?

The 4 or 6 digit code that was sent to your mobile was to enter in the box that was part of your account recovery ON LINE. Your mobile number is only used to identify that you are the legit account holder. You cannot reply, or log back in, using your text or phone call facility from a mobile. It is now probably timed out so you will need to go back to the forgotten my password route in Outlook email if you cannot remember it and then when you get the NEW Code(4 or 6 digits) Are you are saying that you have changed your phone and number without telling Outlook?
no - when I put my everyday email address in, then the forgotten password - I will ask for the password or code to go somewhere - it tells me it should go to a very old phone (landline) which doesn't accept texts but the system uses my everyday email address and and I'm not allowed to register with it. it tells me to create another email address which I don't want as I may lose my emails in the original - sorry for confusing
OK Jen. You have you pasword, that is good. Do not try to change it or go further for now. You will not get back in there in 5 minutes if the old phone number is gone.(unless you know who has it) We need to get contact with microsoft with an email address that is not your's, to exchange info using microsoft's account recovery form. If you know the person who has your old number then right now they are getting your codes! Hint. Hint.
Righto. Then there will be a voicemail or message with the code on it if you have the facility on the phone line. Did you hear the phone ring or is it not connected? Make sure it is connected, check it for recorded messages or texts(will probably be a computer generated voice rendition). Best have a pen and paper with you when you play it back. If there is nothing there, then go through the account recovery process on you email account and then sit by the phone and see what comes through. The code they sent to the phone needs to be entered in the email recovery box that says Enter Code.
Didn't know you were a bit deaf Jen. When you manage all this you can change you account settings so that microsoft(Outlook) can send recovery and confirmation codes to a trusted email account that is not the same one. So you can either get someone to act as back up for you or open another email accont as you own back up. But then you have to manage two accounts and passwords etc. etc. :))
