They're Coming After Your Holidays...

Just wondering how many of us use desktop pcs and whether they really have gone out of fashion.
I have two, both over ten years old. I run W10 on one and dualboot W10 and Linux on the other. Both are coming to the end of their lives and I will have to buy a replacement in the next few years. I will probably go for a large monitor and a mini pc - no need for floppy disc drives or CD/DVD writers these days.
If you do have a PC, do you also have a tablet, laptop or other device? Can you see yourself ditching the PC for good? I use one program a lot, I rely on it, and it is only available for Windows PCs, so I could get by with a laptop but I like a large screen and an excellent keyboard.

Is it attached to the back of a monitor?" - no it's just a cuboidy thing with a load of sockets for USB etc, this is an example not the actual one:

Thanks, TTT, I was thinking of something like this, just to keep things tidy.

Would not be without my desktop. A comfortable work or leisure station with no neck pain or tendonitis of the hands and wrists. I also have a Microsoft Surface pro with keyboard cover and bluetooth arc mouse for Hotels, Hospitals, or even in the car as a tablet. The desktop is my favoured machine. 22" touch screen monitor, backlit wireless keyboard and ergonomic mouse. It will be replaced if I outlive it.
I have a new Samsung tablet, an old Samsung tablet, a kindle Fire, and Samsung phone. I hate the kindle Fire...its quite useless. I only bought it as backup a few years ago.
I started with an HP laptop years ago, followed by a PC donated by my daughter's partner. Then a small Google nexus followed by the old Samsung. I like my technology to be portable. Much easier in a small flat.
We stopped using desktops a long time ago. I use a mini pc (connected to the living room TV) and anything that won't run on it, runs on a VM/Appshost on one of our rackmount servers. My partner does the same. We have various laptops (probably about 8, 3 of which that are in use most of the time). My partner uses linux and WINE for the stuff that requires Windows.
A PC is a laptop, as is a desktop. PC = personal computer, so it's both.
Desktop Computer: PC that has an external monitor, mouse and keyboard.
Laptop Computer: PC that has integrated monitor, mouse and keyboard.
That's the easiest way to remember the difference. Usually when someone says they have a PC, they are usually referring to a desktop.
