I am visiting staying my daughter in Edinburgh. Her house has no TV aerial, and she uses differing apps on her TV (Hisense) to watch channels.

Is there a powerful indoor aerial that can be recommended or an internet device that allows all terrestrial channels to be used, with a drop down guide as normal TV has, as opposed to having to keep switching apps?

I hope this makes sense! Thank you.

The standard that broadcast engineers work to is that their transmitters should always provide a good signal to homes with good quality outdoor aerials.  There's no intention whatsoever to provide a signal for indoor aerials.  So, unexpectedly, many homes simply can't use indoor aerials at all.  Therefore your daughter might be out of luck in her quest to find a suitable one for her location.

However she should start by entering her postcode and house number here:
https://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview-channel-checker

On the results page, underneath 'Freeview at your address', she'll see "Your predicted transmitter is . . . ", followed by the name of the transmitter that any aerial should be pointed at.

Armed with that information, she should then use the wizard here to find out if there's an aerial in the 'One For All' range that's suitable for her needs.  (The wizard is honest.  If they don't make a suitable aerial, she won't be offered one).  If there's no One For All aerial that's suitable, it'll be pointless looking at what any other manufacturers make, as nobody can defy the laws of physics.

[NB: When using the wizard, your daughter should ignore any transmitters that appear to be closer than the one identified in my first link.  That's because they're likely to be very low power transmitters.  For example, there's a transmitter just 3 miles away from me that's only got a power of 2 watts.  It's actually a transmitter 25 miles from me, with a power of 100,000 watts, that I need to enter into the wizard].
