Dont bother. Download the free anti virus programme AVG Anti Virus, at www.grisoft.com. Its free and has free updates.

Ask anyone on here how good this programme is and how much better it is compared to nortons. Nortons is pants. It downloaded a virus to my machine when I first tried to upgrade and I had to reinstall my whole PC. I have been using AVG for the last year and its the best out there.

I agree with spaced, have been running AVG for over 2 years now with no problem. I changed from Norton when believe it or not I got a virus in Norton over 2 years ago, most IT guys I know use AVG , cost nothing give it a try, you will not be dissapointed.

The Norton paid subscription should last 12 months (a right pain when they use "trial" versions). As for cost - I think it's around 30 ($50).

I'd agree that there are better products out there like AVG, Fsecure or EZ Anti-virus that don't try to do as much fiddling with your computer, and catch the new viruses faster.

Actually EZ Antivirus have a 12 month free subscription going currently as long as you're running Windows.
AVG doesn't appear to be free on grisoft (except for a trial) unless someone knows different and can point me on the right track
It is cheaper to buy a new 2005 Norton antivirus on ebay than pay the subscription charge!
I saw this and I was gonna suggest AVG too. I had Norton once and a virus slipped through. I have been using AVG ever since then with no problems at all.

For avg free version. Scroll down and click on the installation file. Currently version 7.1.375

Don't forgot to remove Norton Antivirus from your computer before installing a new antivirus scanner because there could be problems. See this website:

Just to back up what everyone else has said so far. I used to be a staunch supporter of Norton AV & used it for years. The last couple of years though NAV has got slower & slower. I tried AVG & it's way better than NAV and, of course, doesn't cost a penny.
