My laptop tells me I need the following update:


Office XP Service Pack 3


But it's trying to get it from the disk for 'Microsoft Word 2002'. I can't find it anywhere.


I operate 'window XP Home edition' on Any ideas???

Not sure why it's searching for the update on the disk, but if it doesn't give you an option to update from the web try this link:

That'll take you to the download page where you can get it from Microsoft, although at 16 - 57MB you'll need a pretty decent connection.

Cheers for that, but BOTH are asking for the disc when installing.

MS Office does require the original office CD when installing a service pack.


Not sure if this is for technical reasons or security reasons (to make sure you have a valid MS Office CD).


I think without it you are unlikely to be able to install the service pack.


If you have a valid MS Office CD (?) then suggest you find it. Of course if you "borrowed" it from a friend then you may need to borrow it again.

I geniunly did have the original. It's just since moving, to Spain, that I can't find it.
