How do I write indices and those numbers as in H20 in chemistry on the the computer without the caracter map? Also how do I do small (s) (l) (g) (aq) next to it

Well, it would be helpful if you mentioned which editor you are using. This is from the help in Word 2002:

Make text superscript or subscript
Select the text you want to format as superscript or subscript.
On the Format menu, click Font, and then click the Font tab.
Select the Superscript or Subscript check box.
