XP firewall is fine if you just want a barebones firewall to block things from coming in that you don't want coming in.
Other firewalls such as zonealarm offer two-way protection, i.e. they can stop programs getting access out of your computer too (XP firewall may do this too, I've never bothered looking into it). Also they are much more configurable than the XP firewall (the main reason for changing perhaps).
Personally I prefer Kerio Personal Firewall. Offers all the same goodies as Zonealarm, but loads up faster when you turn your computer on and uses less memory.
