vsmon.exe virus - urgent help required from those in the know please
11 Answers
I think ive got a virus or something is seriously wrong with my zone alarm. the process vsmon.exe is all of a sudden using between 60 & 95% of my cpu. I cannot remove zonealarm from add/remove programs as i get an error message saynig that vectors are still running even when ive closed everything down. I cannot work out how to disable zonealarm as its not in the icon tray at the bottom left of the screen anymore. I did a spybot search and destroy but the problem still persists and my computer is running really slow If i end the process through task manager it immediatly starts up again - what can i do to sort this out please?

Hi
I've just experienced the exact same thing on my pc ,Ive since found out it has some thing to do with the last upgrade for zone alarm . If your still able to connect to the internet I'd advise you to log onto the zonelabs site and access the forum and look at what people have been saying.
I found a piece by a contributor called sly fox
about the very same problem and he's came up with the solution to the problem , Its to long to post here I think it prints off over 3 pages
I think this address takes you straight there

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop or in Windows Explorer and choose Manage.
At the bottom of the left hand pane, click the + beside Services and Applications. Click on Services, then in the right hand pane, scroll down 'till you find the TrueVector Internet Monitor service. Right here's where I would have said to right-click the service and stop it, but I've just checked and it won't let me do anything with it. You may have to boot to safe mode and stop the service from there.
