Hello All,

I have an old laptop (windows 98) that has decided to play dirty. It has been working fine - mostly used for MS word etc, so nothing too taxing for it!

Anyway - for some reason I tried to start it up, and have recieved a different version of the 'blue screen of death'

the screen says "Microsoft Registry Checker", and it says "Repairing c:\Windows\System.dat" It has stopped on 11% complete, and will not progress further than this. I have tried restarting but it just cycles back to this screen.

Any suggestions as to what is wrong, and what I can do? or is this old campaigner due for the dustbin?

You need to reformat your laptop with all the CD's supplied (Application & Software Cd) if not, u will have to download them from another computer. If not u can contact your Insurance Company they will either replace or repair.
The first option should do it fine.
