I believe BT came out on top of a users satisfaction report although they are not the cheapest.

www.adslguide.org is a good site, driven by feedback from the public.

There is also a speed test on there that is very handy.

i can vouch for wanadoo ,now orange been with them 2 years on broadband 2mg,
no problems at all with modem or downloads

If you have cable in your area, I've always found telewest to be great.
