ntsc to pal

Is it easy to convert a video and get a copy put on to PAL for my mother as I have it on NTSC or whatever the American one is ......... or do most VCRs play both these days ??

It is surprisingly difficult.

Not only does the video player have to be able to play NTSC the television itself has to be capable of displaying it.

If it isn't, you just get a black and white picture with heavy bars, and distorted or no sound.

however, if you can get it into digital format, it is simple to change between the 2 formats, but obviously you'll end up with dvd instead of video.
