My speakers have suddenly stopped, before I had sound coming out of them for music, Skype conversations, etc, but not anymore, ive checked volume controls on speakers and on pc all ok, all leads are plugged in, they;re on cause red light tells me so. i can hear ok through skype phone ut thats it, any help please, thanks.
I had a bit of a problem recently with, first my scanner, then the speakers, then the printer all not wanting to work, after reading a bit in a troubleshooting for idiots book, I think that an oldish pc without virus protection ( not online though) sometimes gets things wrong with its brainy bits and slows down and blocks things sometimes, our answer was to buy a new one as mine was just over 6 years old. Hope you have better luck than me !
there is no speaker icon there, the time, norton, outlook express, epson icon, modem icon and 3 small pc screens with a cross that when i run cursor over it says, "ATM connection a network cable is unplugged", what is all that about!! no speaker icon. Thanks.
Goto START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>SOUNDS AND MULTIMEDIA, then click on the SOUNDS tab and make sure that the box at the bottom is ticked (Show volume control on the taskbar) Then you can carry-out my original suggestion
sorry about this but i've followed your instructions and there is still no sound, it is not set at mute. volume ok from skype ear piece, before i had volume in speakers but not in skype fone even though i could still talk to people on skype. hope you understand this, thanks.
Does your PC have a PCI sound card or does sound come from an onboard chip ? Whichever the case, it looks like you have lost amplification. If separate sound card, you could test to see if it is seated firmly in its slot.
