Could be the program assosication with the ones that ain't working....what do you use to listen to midi's then? If it's a different programme than the others then this might be it...if not please repost with your version of windows and sound card (if appropriate) and we'll see what we can do.

I use Windows Media Player for midis and others as well. All the sound has stopped except midis, so games and other non-music programs etc. I am using Windows 98 SE and my sound card is (on system thing) yamaha op3l-sax. I think it uses yamaha pro audio or something (i remember reading that somewhere....i'm no good with sound cards)
try Right-Clicking the speaker icon next to the clock on the taskbar. "Choose open volume controls" and make sure that the Slider for "Wave" is not set at the minimum and that the "Mute" box is not ticked.

lol, whats really ironic is that i realised the wave slider thing was on minimum literaly seconds before you posted this reply Headtime. Makes sense tho cos the midi slider thing wasn't changed etc. I dunno what program did it but its so dead! Thanks for the help :-D
mine did that and for months I was convinced the sound card was stuffed. HOWEVER!! turned out the lead at the back had come out and just needed plugging in again DUH!!!
